MUN İngilizce kulübümüzden 18 arkadaşımız ile birlikte Atina’ya gerçekleştirdiğimiz dört günlük gezinin sonunda hem üç gün boyunca ACGMUN Konferansı’na katıldık hem de harika bir tarihi şehir olan Atina’yı gezdik.
Gittiğimiz ilk gün, Atina şehrini keşfetme fırsatı bulduk. Şehrin tarihi atmosferi ve mimarisi gerçekten çok etkileyiciydi. İlk olarak Akropolis Müzesini gezdik ve Akropolis’e çıktık. Bütün şehri en tepeden görebildiğimiz manzara inanılmazdı. Şehrin Syntagma meydanında, Parlamento binasının önünde gerçekleşen muhafız değişimi törenini de izledikten sonra meydanında zaman geçirdik ve çevresindeki canlı mekanlardan birinde geleneksel Yunan yemeği olan gyros yedik.
ACGMUN Konferansı’nın başlangıcı olan ertesi gün, açılış törenine katılım gösterdik. Konferansın teması olan “Let’s Shape Tomorrow Together” (Geleceği birlikte şekillendirelim) doğrultusunda konuşmacılar ve profesyoneller konuşmalar yaparak konferansın öneminden ve uluslararası işbirliğinin değerinden bahsettiler. Törenin en sonunda ise bazı öğrenciler geleneksel Yunan müzik ve dans gösterileri gerçekleştirdi. Ardından delegeler kendi komitelerine geçerek komite oturumlarına başladılar. Toplamda 14 farklı komitenin neredeyse hepsinde kulübümüz katıldı. Dünyanın her yerinden, farklı kültürlere sahip olan öğrencilerle tanıştık.
İkinci gün temponun hızlanması ile birlikte, bütün gün komitelerimizde aktif bir çalışma ortamı içerisinde tartışmalarımızı yürüttük ve çözümlerimiz üzerine yoğunlaştık.
Son günümüzde yine aynı tempo içerisinde çalışmaya devam ettik ve General Assembly (Genel Kurul) Summit oturumunu gerçekleştirdikten sonra gezimizin sonuna geldik. Ayrılırken hepimiz biraz daha kalmak istesek de bu gezinin bir parçası olduğumuz için ve aynı zamanda bize kattığı kültürel ve akademik deneyimler sayesinde ne kadar şanslı olduğumuzu bir kez daha fark ettik.

The four-day trip to Athens that we went to with 18 members of our MUN English Club, where we had the opportunity not only to participate in the ACGMUN Conference for three days but also to explore the remarkable historic city of Athens was one of our MUN Club’s activities this year.
On our first day, we had the chance to discover the city. The historical atmosphere and architecture of Athens were truly impressive. We first visited the Acropolis Museum and then went up to the Acropolis. The view from the top, where we could see the entire city, was incredible. In Syntagma Square, we watched the changing of the guards ceremony in front of the Parliament building. Afterwards, we spent some time in the square and enjoyed gyros, a traditional Greek dish, at one of the local restaurants nearby.
The following day marked the beginning of the ACGMUN Conference, and we attended the opening ceremony. In line with the conference theme, “Let’s Shape Tomorrow Together,” speakers and professionals gave speeches emphasizing the importance of the conference and the value of international cooperation. At the end of the ceremony, several students performed traditional Greek dances and songs. The delegates then moved to their committees and began their committee sessions. Our club participated in nearly all of the 14 different committees present, where we had the opportunity to meet and interact with students from all around the world from many different cultures.
On the second day, as the pace of the conference increased, we spent the entire day actively working in our committees, engaging in discussions and focusing on developing resolutions. On the final day, we continued working at the same pace and ended the conference by participating in the General Assembly (GA) Summit session.
Although we all wished we could stay a little longer when it was time to leave, we realized once again how fortunate we all were to be part of this experience and to benefit from the cultural and academic opportunities it provided.
